Opportunities Abound

Over the past several months, I have been visiting with the partners of the OC Global Alliance.  It doesn’t matter if they are from Europe, Asia, Africa, or the Americas; I hear the same thing in the northern and southern hemispheres: we need more workers!

Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness.  When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.  Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.  Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”  Matthew 9:35-38 NIV

We are praying that God would raise and send hundreds of new workers to the mission field.  Right now, there are so many open doors.  We have opportunities to place workers almost anywhere in the world and we are very good at caring for our people once they are deployed.  Have you ever considered spending a week, a month, or a year immersed in a different culture?  Cross-cultural experiences expand our minds and open our hearts to see and understand people differently.  You will develop invaluable skills for navigating life and making disciples of Jesus in our wonderfully diverse world.

Traditionally, the threshold for entering cross-cultural missions has been high and intimidating.  We are working on new onramps to help individuals gain exposure and experience in cross-cultural settings and participate in international internships.  These internships could range from a couple of weeks to multiple years.  Our internships are designed to help individuals learn from another culture, work with a team of missionaries live an authentic cross-cultural life, and to develop relationships that lead to ministry and changed lives.  Interns will grow in their faith and develop skills that are transferrable to any workplace, environment, or culture.
